Refunds & Cancellations
Last updated: September 18, 2026
This page says exactly what happens to your money today — including the $1 charge you will see on your statement when you start a trial, and what to do if it does not come back.
When you start a monthly or yearly trial, Stripe checkout includes a $1.00 line called "Card verification (auto-refunded)". It is there to check the card is real. As soon as checkout completes, our server automatically issues a full refund of that $1 through Stripe. You do not have to ask for it. Depending on your bank, you may see the charge and the refund as two lines, or the charge may simply disappear as a pending authorization — banks typically take a few business days to settle it.
The 7-day free trial
- Monthly and yearly plans start with a 7-day free trial.
- Nothing for the subscription is charged during those 7 days. The only thing that touches your card at signup is the $1 verification above, which is refunded automatically.
- A payment method is collected at signup so billing can continue automatically after the trial. If the trial reaches its end with no usable payment method on file, the subscription is cancelled rather than left unpaid — Stripe is configured that way.
- Cancel any time before the trial ends and you are not charged for the subscription.
- When the 7 days end and you have not cancelled, your first subscription payment is taken at the price shown on the pricing page, and it renews on that cycle until you cancel.
How to cancel
- Open Settings.
- Under Billing, find Manage subscription and click Manage in Stripe. That opens the Stripe billing portal in a new tab.
- Cancel the subscription there. Cancelling stops future renewals.
You can also cancel by deleting your account: Settings → Danger zone → Delete account. That one cancels every active or trialing subscription linked to you immediately, and deletes your account and data. It cannot be undone, so use the billing portal if you only want to stop paying.
If you cannot get into the app to cancel, email hello@cutflux.app from the address on your account and we will cancel it for you.
If you were charged after the trial
There is no automatic refund button for subscription payments — a charge after the trial is a real payment that has to be refunded by hand. So:
- Email hello@cutflux.app from the email address on your account, with the date and amount of the charge.
- We read every one of these and reply. Refunds after the trial are handled case by case, by a person, rather than by a fixed rule.
- Cancelling on its own does not refund a payment that has already been taken; ask for the refund explicitly.
Lifetime purchases
The lifetime plan is a one-time payment, with no trial and no $1 verification line — the whole amount is charged for real at checkout. If you want to undo a lifetime purchase, email us; the same manual process above applies.
The $1 did not come back
The refund is issued by an automated step right after checkout. If that step fails, it is logged on our side and it does not block your premium access — which means it is possible to have premium and still be $1 down without anyone noticing. If you do not see the $1 back within about 10 business days, email hello@cutflux.app with the date, and we will refund it manually. That is a real gap, and we would rather you knew about it than discovered it.
What happens to your account after cancelling
Cancelling ends your premium features. A free account is limited to 2 exports in total at up to 720p, and captions stay premium-only. Your videos are not stored by Cutflux either way — see the Privacy Policy — so download anything you still need before you cancel.
Chargebacks
Please email us before opening a dispute with your bank. A chargeback takes weeks and usually ends with the account closed; an email is faster and we would rather just refund you.
